July of 2011 I began taking my granddaughter you swim lessons at Gresham high school in the city of Gresham. I have been excited about it because the Lord would want her to know how to swim, and no one else in her family has the time to give her to take lessons. So God has been telling me that that is something I can do with her being paralyzed in my wheelchair. Children love to be watched whenever they are in sports or some kind of competition with themselves. They love recognition that they are good at something, and that builds their confidence in themselves. It also helps them learn to accept when they cannot achieve the unachievable at their age level. Some things just don”t happen when you are five, but when you are 10 because of certain strengths that you might learn over five years.

She is swimming in the 10 foot deep area with a life jacket that has a picture of Barbie on a bright pink and turquoise life vest. She wears her blue goggles with pink flowers around the lenses, and they have bright pink rubber straps that go around her head. He picks things out at the store to match her swimsuits and life jacket. She also picked out a colorful beach towel with purple monkeys. What ever that was supposed to be as a choice I don”t know but she does. They had sharks and dolphins and other choices but monkeys were her thoughts at that time. Children have such an imagination that it really doesn”t matter what kind of beach towel because it was so exciting for her just to get her life jacket and goggles to go swimming with grandma watching.

We spend one night a week together as overnighter. I picked her up and we do swimming or stating, and Wonderland occasionally because she wants to save her tickets for a special jewelry box that has a mirror, and a clock right smack dab in the middle. It will take 2600 tickets and we only have 300, but we have many months in a year to collect them all. $10 at a time gets about 400 tickets, so I figure 6 trips and times that by 400 equals 2400 tickets. Pretty close to buying this jewelry box. I find it exciting watching her win tickets just by putting a nickel in the machine. It is nice that you can purchase things with your tickets instead of getting nothing in return.

I imagine in the 1800s children didn”t have a whole lot to play with. But I”m sure they have a great imagination for what ever they did in those days. God created our minds to be so innocent when we were born, and children are so fun to listen to when they talk especially when they make up stories about things that aren”t even real. I just accept what they say because in their eyes they know it”s make-believe, so they live it out as their imaginary friend when they are alone playing.

We will be going to a skate party at skate world with Children from Good Shepherd Church, and children that came to the vacation Bible school that don”t attend church. I pray that those children that don”t know the Lord met him that week.

My Granddaughter is the wonderful work of God, and I am blessed to have her in my life. I thank you Lord for her! Her sister Hayley has not yet been able to spend the night because she is only two years old and not old enough to dress herself, and pour her own cereal.
When she can do that then she is ready.

Even though I am paralyzed from the neck down I have peace in my heart, mind and soul. Before the Harley Davidson motorcycle crash I was riding with drug addicts and marijuana users, and I was just as guilty because I was growing and selling weed in our own home with our two-year-old son living there as well. I don not use religion or churches as an scape goat as some do, and by the way scape goat came from the Bible in the Old Testament. Leviticus 16:8
And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the LORD, and the other lot for the scapegoat. Read the story and you will understand why it is used today and always.

 

My 4 1/2 year old son Travis grew up to be a magnificent welding engineer and auto mechanic, guitar player, problem solver, resolutionist, Carpenter, and much more! My son is now a father of two beautiful little girls, and a wonderful provider for his home. He is a husband and a Christian that believes in Jesus Christ as his Savior.

 



As Joni Erickson Tada would say “I would rather be sitting down in my wheelchair knowing Him, then to be on my feet without Him”. I feel the same way 100%. Knowing that there is a place waiting for me in heaven gives me all of the hope that anyone could ever need. I will not be in this wheelchair when I get to the promised land. Heaven on earth and that is what will change before heaven is created. It is kind of like starting the new “Garden of Eden”.

The Prayer of Jesus

6 “I have revealed you[a] to the ones you gave me from this world. They were always yours. You gave them to me, and they have kept your word. 7 Now they know that everything I have is a gift from you, 8 for I have passed on to them the message you gave me. They accepted it and know that I came from you, and they believe you sent me.

9 “My prayer is not for the world, but for those you have given me, because they belong to you. 10 All who are mine belong to you, and you have given them to me, so they bring me glory. 11 Now I am departing from the world; they are staying in this world, but I am coming to you. Holy Father, you have given me your name;[b] now protect them by the power of your name so that they will be united just as we are. 12 During my time here, I protected them by the power of the name you gave me.[c] I guarded them so that not one was lost, except the one headed for destruction, as the Scriptures foretold.

13 “Now I am coming to you. I told them many things while I was with them in this world so they would be filled with my joy. 14 I have given them your word. And the world hates them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. 15 I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one. 16 They do not belong to this world any more than I do. 17 Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth. 18 Just as you sent me into the world, I am sending them into the world. 19 And I give myself as a holy sacrifice for them so they can be made holy by your truth.

20 “I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. 21 I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me.

22 “I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one. 23 I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me. 24 Father, I want these whom you have given me to be with me where I am. Then they can see all the glory you gave me because you loved me even before the world began!

25 “O righteous Father, the world doesn’t know you, but I do; and these disciples know you sent me. 26 I have revealed you to them, and I will continue to do so. Then your love for me will be in them, and I will be in them.”
